世博，真的有勇气去看吗

本来决定去看世博的，可听很多去了的人回来讲故事，心里凉了半截，有的去了一个馆都排不进去，排队时间太长，有的排了半天发现原来是厕所。嗨，中国这样的盛会，总是人满为患，世博，花钱找罪受的地方，真的有勇气去么？（图片来源：http://my.dili360.com/home/space.php?uid=160134&do=blog&id=61879）

大凡到黄山的人，都会一不小心被忽悠到翡翠谷，不论你是上了黄山还是没有上去的。当然，翡翠谷也并不是一无是处，风景好看，更需要会欣赏风景的人。这些老照片，是今年夏季拍的，现在把他们贴出来，感觉还是很不错的风景。

刚进翡翠谷的大门，印象最深刻的当然是那一望无边的竹林（应该叫竹海吧）。这个翡翠宾馆镶嵌在竹林中，空气和风景应该都不错。

几个貌似古老的房子。当然，我们都知道，现在中国的风景区不缺乏类似的房子和亭子，不管是古老的还是现在复原的还是人工臆造的。有点疲劳了。

刚进谷看见的河水，确实很清澈，要是每个城市都有这样的水就好了。

难道真的有蚌，没下去摸过。晕，海蚌，应该更名叫河蚌或者谷蚌

花镜池

看了这个你就会明白花镜池甚至翡翠谷有点出名的原因，文化的力量还是商业和金钱的威力，不得而知。

传说中发哥和章子怡就是在这里飞来飞去，现场一看，实在是太小了，大跌眼镜。

叠瀑，有型但无气势，只怪你太温柔。要是生长黄山半腰估计就出名了。

翡翠谷的池真多，又一个绿珠池。

黄山的脚下就是这个样子的！

后记：游玩完翡翠谷，一般都会被当作免费的专家去给当地政府开始的茶叶宣传处去品种。导游会一再声明品茶是免费的，咱不收钱。品茶待遇都很高，都是单间专人服务，想喝各种茶随时会给你冲泡。屋子光线较暗，在里面感觉茶好喝，可能是刚游玩翡翠谷，喝点茶感觉舒服。于是很多人都会忍不住买点回去，但买回来的感觉就一般，我今天仍然不知道其原因。另外，导游会很耐心的邀请你吃饭，当地农家饭。我们还是忍住了，一是当天确实带了干粮，也不怎么饿，另外对所谓的农家饭现在也不太相信，除非我经常去的和熟悉的地方。

人一辈子应该去看次大海，不然会觉得遗憾

自幼出生在山区，只知道大山的宏伟，不晓得大海的辽阔。从读大学慢慢走出山区，见识了平原，但仍然未见大海。工作之后，虽然借出差之便也跑了不少地方，全国各个省份基本上都到此一去过，但仍然没有一次机会接近海边，即使到北京、广州和上海甚至flying到日本已经离还不远了。

今年夏天的一次出差，经过大连到青岛，于是终于来了机会见识海的味道。专程买了大连到烟台的船票，从大连港出发，慢悠悠的四五个小时，认真的沉浸在海天一色当中。有人说三亚的海最漂亮，我没去过，无从比较。对于第一次见到大海的我，小小的渤海湾已经足够。更幸运的是，那天的天气可谓相当的好，万里晴空只有几丝云彩，出船出发的时候起，一群海鸥便一直尾随着我们，内行人说它们是在觅食，对于我们，它们却是风景。

那天坐的船好像还比较的大－葫芦岛号，很有意思的名字。当然，对于上甲板看风景需要另外买十元票的做法不太地道，但是对于我们却没办法，那叫我们的三等舱里巴掌大的窗口实在是无法满足蕴藏许久的求知欲。现在想来，白天坐船，如果不下大雨的话，站票足以，不用浪费RMB。

品味雨中的宏村

宏村有名是从网上得知的，但天公不作美，第一次品味宏村是在雨中进行的。有失必有所得，也许老天是公平的，雨中的宏村似乎另有一番味道。体验宏村的美，需要整体把握同时兼顾细节，任何大而化之且不用心的品味都是不应该的。宏村媲美紧邻的西递，有人说西递贵在其深厚的文化底蕴，而宏村则胜在其错落有致的典型徽派建筑风格。我更喜欢欣赏建筑的美，因为我不是一所谓的文化人，所以我选择了宏村，现在看了可能没有错。宏村的每一个角落都记录了曾经的历史的喧闹与沧桑八字形的大门朝向表示这家主人过去的身世高贵与显赫这汪清水仍然静静的流淌着当现代人行走在古老的村落，每个人的心中想的是什么呢…… 南湖将宏村隔离，这桥是独有的通道，多少人从这里走过？静静的宏村，仍然将书写自己漫长的历史

It is a photo album in flickr shooted by Leroy W. Demery, who have ever traveled in China for three months in 1983. I have been greatly inspired by the images in this album because I am four years old in 1983 in which I have nothing in my memory.

后记：小时候穷，没吃没喝更不用说买个相机，不然真想看看过去的家乡到底是个啥样子。于是有人建议看看现在的朝鲜就是过去的我们，看了这些照片，突然觉得很有道理，特别是那公交车，好像一样一样的。感谢老外的相机。

再后记：朝同学现在搞核弹，突破xx的封锁，和过去的我们也有几分神似，偶然还是必然呢。不好，文不对题，离题万里了。

Text:The Obama administration has to decide how to fight the flow of drugs north into the United States, and the flow of guns south into Mexico.

This is IN THE NEWS in VOA Special English.

More than six ~~thousand~~ people died last year in Mexico’s drug wars. So far this year the violence has only gotten worse. More than one thousand people have already been killed.

Police have become common targets, especially in border cities in northern Mexico.

Criminal organizations are competing for control of drug trafficking into the United States. The American State Department has warned travelers about border areas. But there is some evidence that the violence is spreading to other parts of Mexico.

Last month, gunmen kidnapped a retired army general in Cancun, a beach city popular with American college students on spring break. Mauro Tello Quinones was tortured and killed just days after he arrived in the city to fight corruption in the local police.

Mexican organized crime groups not only sell in the United States.
Those cartels also use some of the money
to buy high-powered weapons in the United States and bring them back into Mexico.
Mexico is receiving money for training

United States officials say the growing violence shows progress by the Mexican government in fighting the drug trade. Its efforts, they say, have led cartels to battle each other for decreasing profits.

Concern is growing that the violence will spread into the United States. The situation along the southern border is called a national security threat.

Congress held hearings this week. Lawmakers urged the Obama administration to increase efforts to help Mexico crush the drug cartels.

Representative Loretta Sanchez from California noted that Mexico has now deployed forty-five thousand troops — around the same number as the United States has in Afghanistan.

LORETTA SANCHEZ: “The United States and this Congress cannot ignore our role in assisting our neighbor and our ally in this fight, and of course in preventing that violence in slipping into the United States.”

President Obama said this week that he is not interested in “militarizing” the three thousand kilometer long border. He went on to say, though, that he has not decided yet about requests from border states to deploy additional National Guard troops.

He says the cartels have gained “extraordinary power.” He expects to have what he called a comprehensive policy in place in the next few months.

American officials recently announced results from an operation aimed at Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel, which also sends drugs to Canada. They announced hundreds of arrests in the United States and the seizure of twenty-three tons of drugs.

And, this week, President Obama nominated the police chief from Seattle as the new director for the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Gil Kerlikowske says reducing demand for drugs will depend not just on arrests but also on treatment for users.
